DeFazio’s
For top shelf Italian food in Troy, there’s no better value than DeFazio’s: monster plates of pasta (freshly made: check out the big brass Impasta in the dining room) for eight to ten dollars, and maybe the best pizza in town (I Love New York is about the only potential competitor), circa thirteen bucks for a large with lots of toppings. Only a few tables on-site, but they deliver also. Caveat: DeFazio’s doesn’t sell pizza by the slice, so don’t come around looking for just a snack. As a bonus, visit the affiliated grocery next door for sauce, cheese, deli stuff, and cannoli ice cream (yes, cannoli ice cream).

As an added bonus, they’ll let you BYOB. $1.50 opens any bottle of wine you choose to bring with you.
They make it like Brooklyn and Long Island. Very hard to find in the midstate Capital District area. Kids say, “Can we have DeFazio’s tonight?” Always had a good attitude with me. Maybe with that first guy, he needs to learn how to schmooz a little. Ask a downstater, we’ll be glad to explain. Best pizza around.
For God’s sake, get the smoked mozzarella.
While their pizza is wonderful, the service leaves much to be desired. At times the staff comes across as rude, and has an take-it-or-leave-it attitude. My recommendation is to eat the food, but interact with the people there as little as possible.
The family that runs this store and pizzeria know how to do it right. The meatballs and sauce are all homemade. You can’t make it better! The clam sauce is absolutely world class. I stock up every time I go there. This is a place that, once you go there, everyplace else is then secondary in taste!
Enjoy!
I love this pizza so much it is the best pizza ever! they r the gods of pizza! everything is perfect, their pasta is delicious and fresh!I could live off of their pizza!!!!
DeFazio’s, in my humble opinion, is the best pizza in Troy. Great sauce, wonderful crust. They have great Italian food here – huge, overwhelming portions for most things. The chicken parmesan is one of my favorites.
